The word ‘Culture’ is often thrown around in business.
To some, it’s merely a term used for certain intangibles that are difficult to describe. But, at Vision Hospitality Group, our unique culture is very real, and it starts with our seven Vision Values that represent the way of life at Vision. Our Vision Values guide our decisions and our actions. Taken separately, each Value is important, but when we put them all together, our culture thrives.
We also believe in the Golden Rule: to treat others the way you would want to be treated. That is true in our interactions with our associates, our guests, and in our communities. At Vision, the word Community speaks to each hotel’s community as well as the broad, community-related causes that we proudly support, including environmental awareness, education and wellness.
Our hotels routinely partner with over 95 community service organizations in our hometowns across the United States. We believe that giving back to our communities is an important part of being good neighbors.
What sets us apart is the simple belief that our people come first. Our associates are the heart and soul of our company. We believe that, if we are to plan for our exciting future together, then it’s important to understand our path from our very beginning. Our culture is important to us. Our foundation is strong, and is reinforced by our shared commitment to our Vision Values and the Golden Rule. We believe that if you are honest, do things with the utmost integrity, and treat everyone with respect, good things will happen.
Since I’ve been with Vision I have recognized new strengths and abilities within myself. I owe this to the culture and my mentors.
– Amy C., Hilton Garden Inn Chattanooga/Downtown
Vision Hospitality Group’s culture is unique in its sincere focus on associates, their families and the golden rule. In working as closely to Mitch Patel as I do, it is immediately evident that this comes from the top and the Patel family lives this every day. I have worked for other closely held companies, and while many “talk the talk” about having a commitment to their associates, none followed through on that promise. Not until I found my place at Vision Hospitality Group did I see a family-owned company that was truly a family.
– Andrew H., Home Office Team
I have been most impressed by the passion vision has for the success and happiness of its people. This genuine care for each member of the vision team is exhibited every day from senior leadership to the line level. Whether we land in the home office or on property, it is clear that supervisors care for associates, associates care for each other, and we all care deeply for our guests.
– Ashley E., The Edwin Hotel
The Vision culture has reinvigorated my life as a hotelier. When becoming a gm, I had grandeur thoughts of what I was to do each day. While working for other management companies, I felt lost. I felt that my creativity and desire to go to work each day was dwindling. I was knee-deep in reports, excel spreadsheets, and had no “life” outside of my work. Vision has allowed me to be me. I enjoy every day, and I enjoy the leadership from our corporate office. I am not only allowed to dream, but I am assisted in making those dreams come true. “Vision” is not just a company name to me; it represents a way of life. I don’t allow walls to obstruct my Vision; I will continue to see past them and create the image I want for my guests and team.
– Barry V., Fairfield Inn & Suites Nashville Downtown At The Gulch
As a college graduate, I had big dreams of conquering the hospitality world. Vision welcomed me with open arms and has surrounded me in an environment where I am able to grow professionally and personally. Vision Hospitality Group has become family. The thing about a family is that they are there for you – through thick and thin. The opportunity to learn is ever-present and one for which I am truly thankful. I am humbled and honored to be a part of the vision family.
– Catharine L., Chattanooga Downtown
I love the Vision values that our company instills in our work lives and to follow in our everyday lives. Vision’s heart is in the community. From habitat to humanity, toys for tots and heart walks with the chattanooga heart association. We’re given so many resources to help with our own home town.
– Chris E., Hampton Inn & Suites Chattanooga/Hamilton Place
If there is one thing that my parents reiterate to me daily, it is that I should always treat people the way I want to be treated. My father says if I do this one thing every day, I will be set for life. It is inspiring to know that I work for a company who values others and lives by the golden rule in both the workplace and community. I am very fortunate to work for Vision Hospitality Group.
– Christina A., Hampton Inn & Suites Chattanooga/Downtown
It’s very important to me that our guests develop personal relationships with our associates. It is equally important to me that we build personal relationships within our team. Building trust and living our values will allow our company to go far.
– Corey M., Hampton Inn Kimball
I feel very fortunate to be employed by Vision Hospitality Group. I knew shortly after I joined the Vision family five years ago, it was just that, family. What I love most about working for vision is that all leaders are focused on our team in ways that support their goals and assist associates to achieve professional and personal growth. I am a leader for Vision now; I achieved that goal through the support and teachings of my Vision family.
– Danielle P., Homewood Suites Atlanta Perimeter
I really like my job! We work hard, but have lots of fun, too! My favorite part of the day is our 9:30 huddle meeting. Every day, our entire staff gets together to discuss the good, the bad and the ugly adventures we face working in our hotel. What a joy it is to be part of an organization that values the opinions of their employees! I’ve been in the hospitality industry since 1998, and this is a first!
– Denetra M., Fairfield Inn & Suites Chattanooga I-24/Lookout Mountain
I think a very important element of my personal happiness is to work for a company whose values are aligned with my own. This culture was evident from day one, before the vision values were officially introduced. Working for and with vision is a classic example of “walking the walk”.
– Ed M., Hampton Inn & Suites Schererville
Vision Hospitality Group truly lives and breathes the culture of “treat others as you would like to be treated”. The contagious, positive attitude originates in management and can be seen in each associate, which is instrumental in providing a stellar guest experience.
– Ellen P., Hilton Garden Inn Chattanooga Downtown
Vision culture to me means “dedication” first and foremost. It is a “do whatever takes mentality” that the entire company represents. The culture of this company is why we do what we do every day. The leadership in this company exemplifies the vision values, and I am truly proud to be a part of it.
– Ethan B., Fairfield Inn & Suites Cleveland
From my personal experience, I cannot say how much I appreciate the way Vision grows and teaches its associates. I started as a front desk associate in 2012, and have been blessed to have been given some great opportunities and work with some great leaders who have believed in me. They taught and coached me to be better every day, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. Vision’s desire to teach and train its current associates first before looking outside means so much to me, and I think that is a great part of our company’s culture.
– Geoffrey S., Hilton Garden Inn Chattanooga/Downtown
What I love about Vision culture is that, in keeping with the core values upon which our business was founded, we focus lots of energy into nurturing others. We are a people-centered organization, and it’s apparent in activities like our break room challenge, our monthly Vision values calls, and our community outreach projects. Through these kinds of initiatives, we’ve created a culture that asks the question, “what can I give to the world?” Our passion for serving others is the driving force behind achieving great business results. That’s something that resonates with me, personally. That’s what makes me proud to be a part of this team.
– Harman H., Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Nw/Kennesaw Town Center
[My general manager] and everyone else’s willingness to help me learn and grow has been great so far. I think the thing i’ve identified with most is the dedication to quality over cost. I have noticed, and appreciated, Vision’s efforts to make our hotels clean, modern, and functioning efficiently, even when it may cost the company a fair sum out of pocket. It makes me feel that, as an employee, I can rely on Vision and [my CEO] to have my back in providing what I need to create a great guest experience and a great hotel.
– Ian H., Hilton Garden Inn Chattanooga/Hamilton Place
When I think of vision hospitality group, I think of a standard unmatched by any other hospitality company. Working for Vision, I feel valued and appreciated. I am grateful to be a part of this fantastic company.
– Ian T., La Quinta Inn & Suites Smyrna
What goes around comes around. Keep your circle positive. Say good words. Think good thoughts. Do good deeds.
– Ish P., Home Office Team
It is so great to work for a company that specifically defines its values. I have worked for several companies, and if you asked me anything about their culture or their values, I would have to honestly say I am not really sure. Vision hospitality group is different. The saying “each value directs our vision” is so true! I think of our values as a compass. If we refer to our values and we put them into practice when making any decision for our hotel, we will have success.
– Jeff H., Fairfield Inn & Suites Chattanooga I-24/Lookout Mountain
When I think Vision culture, I think of togetherness, community, spirit. I truly think of our Vision values and how they affect the work place, and how by demonstrating them, we are creating the culture that we want for our employees to experience. I have been with Vision for 4 years now, and I can truly say that we have more culture now than when I first started. The best is yet to come.
– Joclyn F., Doubletree Chattanooga Downtown
I began my career in this industry at Vision Hospitality Group. I know that this is where I want to be when my career comes to an end. I can tell by the reactions I receive when I attend a networking event and tell someone what company I belong to, that Vision has already made such an impact on this community. It gives me such pride to boast about who I work for and how blessed am I that I found that so early in my career.
– Jordan N., Hampton Inn Chattanooga West/Lookout Mountain
Vision is very hands on and very involved.
– Joy H., Hampton Inn & Suites Chattanooga/Hamilton Place
One team. One vision! This is exactly what vision culture means to me. I truly feel as though we are one team and even more so like a family. It is inspiring to work with a company that not only says what they mean, but do what they say while holding firm to their integrity and respect in the process. Vision culture is happy, uplifting, and resilient. I am very blessed and thankful to be working with and for the best, most respected hotel company in America.
– Kate C., Fairfield Inn & Suites Knoxville West
After working in hospitality for nearly a decade, I find the culture at Vision to be remarkable. To instill in each team member a genuine sense of care, for each other and for our guests, is no easy task. But this is the culture we have, a culture where valuing the best interest of all parties leads to sustainable profitability. It creates an environment that is deeply satisfying.
– Kaylon T., Hampton Inn Chattanooga Lookout Mountain
I feel blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of Vision Hospitality Group. I am new to the organization but I have got to use and experience firsthand the values and ethics we strive to uphold within our company. We are Vision!
– Lauren P., Hampton Inn Kimball
I am vision. I work with an outstanding group of caring and thoughtful individuals. I work for a groundbreaking company that has evolved the culture of hospitality. I am proud to be a part of such a dedicated and hardworking team. Together, we will become “the best, most respected hotel company in america”. We are Vision.
– Meaghan S., Hampton Inn Kimball
Vision has true empathy and compassion for their employees. Vision has helped me visualize and attain goals more quickly than I had ever thought possible. When I think of Vision, I think - opportunity.
– Megan S., Doubletree Chattanooga Downtown
Being part of the Vision team has given me a sense of true collaboration. I’m surrounded by people that understand and devote themselves to [our Vision values] each day. We come from varying backgrounds and experience levels, but we rally around one another to create a world class guest experience while we develop and strengthen our own character. I am proud to be part of Vision Hospitality Group.
– Melinda M., Hilton Garden Inn Nashville/Franklin/Cool Springs
Each hotel and team has its own personality and our Vision culture allows that personality to develop while still maintaining the overall vision of our company. Vision has felt like home since the day I started, and I look forward to many more years of Vision values, and how it plays into everyday decisions and actions, both personal and professional.
– Merrily B., Hilton Garden Inn Nashville/Franklin/Cool Springs
Having been hired in December, I am still new to this company, but have been in this business for some time now. I am very impressed with the focus on the guest, but also how we go about that focus. The commitment to each other, our community and our company is invigorating. The support I have felt from our associates and from corporate allows for more passion and commitment on all of our parts. I am proud to say that I am a member of our team.
– Michael G., Hilton Garden Inn Nashville/Franklin/Cool Springs
The culture found in Vision Hospitality Group is truly one of the best I have experienced. Many companies write a “mission statement” and define their “culture”, but fail to keep a front-of-mind awareness within their associates of that Vision and truly live by what they have defined themselves to be. By rewarding associates with a fun, supportive, opportunistic work environment, alongside monetary incentives to celebrate a job well done, I believe Vision Hospitality Group will retain a taskforce of genuinely happy associates who will provide an exceptional hospitality experience for each and every one of our valued guests.
– Michael V., Fairfield Inn & Suites Nashville Downtown At The Gulch
I have only been with Vision for a few months, but have fallen in love with the culture. The Vision values are simple and can be applied not only at work but life in general! They also allow us the opportunity to recognize associates for what they do without knowing they are doing it. I am proud to be a part of the Vision family.
– Michelle L., Hilton Garden Inn Columbus
Vision has been an amazing company to work with as they make you feel like part of the family. They are there to help motivate, inspire and help you to reach your potential. Vision is there to support you on a personal level, and provide you with the necessary materials you need to perform your job.
– Mildred A., Homewood Suites
Vision culture is like having a second family. It is a company that inspires you to be and give your very best. The Vision culture means commitment to perfection--passion! There is not a better feeling in the world to do what you love for a living.
– Missiel S., Hampton Inn Cleveland
Vision has a goal of creating a common culture among its associates. By taking the time and effort to enrich each associate with this culture, they are giving them the priceless opportunity to enrich their lives in a way that will have a profound and lasting impact on who the associate is or who they will become.
– Natalie W., Doubletree Chattanooga Downtown
Vision culture has been an opportunity to meet and relate to individuals from all over the world. It has given us the chance to show our guests how we appreciate and care for them as a company. Our culture allows us to ensure they enjoy their stay–we want them to have fun in the city or just “cozy up to the fireplace.” Our culture allows us to share smiles, laughs, make memories with our guests so they never forget the stay they had at any vision property.
– Nathan K., Hilton Garden Inn Chattanooga/Downtown
I love our Vision culture. We work together to make one big happy team. I enjoy working with a company that gives you every opportunity to grow.
– Nickie A., Hampton Inn Kimball
Vision culture defined is, simply put, a culture in which people can realize their dreams and reach their highest potential. Vision allows me to stretch and grow as a manager, leader, but more importantly, as a person. Vision invests in their people because after all, it is the people who are the face of this company. The Vision values are interwoven and threaded in the fabric of our company culture. I moved my family from south florida to join this team, and am so thankful each and every day for the opportunity to work in such a great environment. The saying “love what you do and you will never work another day in your life” is absolutely true. Vision has allowed me to grow and stretch as a leader and manager; however, this is not as important as the ability to allow me to grow as a person. I am a better person, parent, and spouse because of this company. Thank you for investing in me!
– Patty M., Doubletree Chattanooga Downtown
In the 14 years that I have been working for Vision, a culture has evolved that is hard to bring to just any company. By building a stronger company culture, Vision has improved employee communication, collaboration, wellness and performance. Working with employees to supply them with the tools and training they need to be successful shows that vision knows there people will earn Vision Hospitality Group the best and most respected title.
– Phil B., Doubletree Chattanooga Downtown
What really hits home with me is what mitch said when i asked if he was the person who came up with the vision values “directs” acronym. He said that the values were there already, a part of us, the way we think and conduct ourselves and the “directs” acronym came later. He couldn’t have given any answer that would have made me more proud to be a part of the vision family! The vision culture is the heart of us because we truly live these values.
– Phil R., Hilton Garden Inn Nashville/Franklin/Cool Springs
Vision’s culture is place of belonging, like that of a thanksgiving meal. Everyone gathers together around the table because everyone there is family. It is the core value of any family to want to belong, to find your place.
– Rachel E., Fairfield Inn & Suites Cleveland
As many others, I had a “calling” to serve others. Coming from meager means, I understood at an early age how to be grateful for the “little things.” A meal when you’re hungry, a roof over your head, a helping hand when you need it...these things can be more fulfilling to those in need than any dream of a lifetime of riches. Vision’s emphasis on community service is one the main things that drives me daily. The security of knowing that I work for a company that supports its community, and its associates makes all the difference in the world.
– Rebecca Cruz Styles, Hampton Inn & Suites Chattanooga Hamilton Place
Winston Churchhill said, “we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” Vision has provided me with a living and multiple opportunities for advancement, but has also awarded me the chance to give to so many others. I feel accomplishment in providing our guests with clean rooms and a remarkable experience. However, I receive the most satisfaction when I can make a difference in one of my team member’s lives. Being employed by a company that encourages a work culture of caring and social responsibility has assisted me creating a life I can be proud of.
– Samantha K., Hilton Garden Inn Chattanooga Downtown
Vision, as a word and company, means so many things to me. First and foremost, it means a shared commitment to excellence and service. It means family and the golden rule. Vision means growth at the right time and in the right areas. Vision is a company replete with leaders at all levels. In my 6 years with Vision, I have never had to go outside to fill supervisory/management positions. Vision means genuinely caring for our fellow associates. Vision means a strong tie with our local community. “Visionites” are eager to lend a hand for those in need in our community. Vision means being passionate leaders and service providers. We strive for excellence on a daily basis. We are resilient and resourceful during difficult moments. Vision means being an ambassador for our guests, our brands, our fellow associates, and our communities.
– Scott S., Hampton Inn & Suites Chattanooga Downtown
Our Vision culture truly guides our decision-making, our interactions with both guests and team members, and how we run our business. I am very proud to be a part of this organization that has developed a philosophy that is so much more than noble words on paper. It is not just a culture for business; it is a way of life based on service and excellence. “I am Vision” both inspires me and engages me every day to try harder and make deeper contribution from my skills and talents.
– Shafik A., Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Nw/Kennesaw Town Center
Vision’s culture is incredible. I’m proud to be a part of a company that encompasses honesty, integrity, hard work, and customer satisfaction! I am surrounded by leaders who lead by example. Vision’s values and beliefs are strong and they are a part of my life in and out of the workplace.
– Stephanie B., Doubletree Chattanooga Downtown
Culture is the very foundation on which legacy is built. When the culture of a company consists of high morals, excellent standards and genuine appreciation for every contributing member, then that company will thrive and have a very long life. Vision Hospitality Group encompasses all of those attributes! It is an honor working for a company that is so active in the community. I love the warm smile and friendly disposition of every employee i’ve met and i look forward to growing with Vision!
– Tameka B., Fairfield Inn & Suites Chattanooga I-24/Lookout Mountain
A common cold over the holiday lead me to a cardiologist, and as I was sitting there talking to the doctor, he said, “I see you work for Mitch Patel,” and I replied, “yes sir, I do. I work for vision hospitality group. I have for two years now. I was with Hilton worldwide for nine years.” The doctor said, “I’m guessing this is a decision you have not regretted?” And I said, “no sir, I haven’t”. I was puzzled at this point with his questions, but then the doctor said, “Tammy, you work for a very good man. He is a good family man, and is true to his staff.” I said I would agree 100%. My Vision values came to my mind at that moment. Integrity and respect. That, Mitch, is what you show and have taught me, and have shown a complete stranger the type of man you are, and the love for vision you have. It makes me proud to be a part of it all.
– Tammy H., Hampton Inn & Suites Chattanooga/Hamilton Place
We are Vision. The most important word of that sentence is WE. Our staff works as an amazing team to achieve our goals.
– Taylor G., Hampton Inn Kimball
Ever since joining the Vision family 10 years ago this may, I have been very impressed with the way our company gives back to our communities. Not only does Vision do this through donating to a local organization when opening a new hotel, but our employees are encouraged to serve in their communities as well. Because of Vision’s rich culture and strong values, I have had the opportunity to work with the Chattanooga area food bank, habitat for humanity and Chattanooga clean and green, just to name a few. It is truly a heartwarming experience to work for a company that cares for its employees, their families and communities. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this truly amazing family.
– Tim H., Hilton Garden Inn Chattanooga/Hamilton Place
Our Vision culture is special to me because of the potential it provides to me and all employees. Through specialized training, exposure to unique opportunities, and appreciation and encouragement, Vision provides building blocks for a sound career foundation. Everyone has a fair shot at any path or position they choose, and are free to choose differently along the way. Our team is there to encourage and support each other, to share in our victories and defeats, from property to president.
– Tricia C., Fairfield Inn & Suites Cleveland
Vision has the culture of a family that functions by celebrating the same core values. I’m thankful for the opportunities that allow each of us to grow and make our family stronger.
– Vany I., Hilton Garden Inn Nashville/Franklin/Cool Springs
I have always wanted to find a job that was more than “just a job”. I wanted to find a work family. I have always thought about how much time we spend working. I, like many people, have ended up with jobs that made me get a knot in my stomach just thinking about how the dreaded monday was near. Then I found Vision and found my true work family. I finally found the home away from home I had been wanting. It takes a great culture to produce an environment like that. So, that is what I think of when I think about Vision’s culture.
